Garnet B. Rickard Rec Complex    Sun, Feb 12, 2012

Adam Wood had a standout game with 26 saves, and the Clarington Eagles beat the Uxbridge Bruins 4-1.

After the loss made the series score 2-0 in the best of five series, Uxbridge faces elimination next time out.

The Bruins' power play was ineffective against Clarington's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

The Eagles were paced by Jake Choiniere, who finished with one goal. Choiniere scored on the power play 14:40 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Clarington. Clarington had gotten the advantage when Uxbridge's Rob Acton was sent off for interference. Brock Ackerman picked up the assist.

The Eagles forced the Bruins goalie Stefan Melnychuk to work between the pipes, taking 56 shots.

Clarington also got a goal from Collin McGillis as well. More assists for Clarington came via Luke Garneau, Eric Kimmerly, Justin Devouge, Kyle Sullivan, and Marco Azzano, who each chipped in one.

Uxbridge struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 90 penalty minutes for 22 opposing power plays.

The Bruins were led by Kyle Northover, who scored the team's only goal. Northover scored on the power play 19:34 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Clarington. A goalie interference penalty on Devouge had put Uxbridge on the power play. Aristidis Douitsis assisted on the tally.

Clarington incurred 26 minutes in penalty time with 13 minors. Stefan Melnychuk made 52 saves for the Bruins on 56 shots. For Uxbridge, Acton and Brett Penrose were ejected from the contest.
