Early goals doom Space Coast Hurricanes, falls to Palm Beach Hawks, 9-2

Space Coast Hurricanes fell behind early, and Palm Beach Hawks kept piling on the points on the way to a 9-2 victory.

Justin Boyd was all over the ice for Palm Beach Hawks, as he racked up two goals in the win. Boyd's tallies came at 6:09 into the first period to make the score 3-0 Palm Beach Hawks and 2:52 into the second to make the score 7-0 Palm Beach Hawks.

Palm Beach Hawks pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 12 penalty minutes.

Palm Beach Hawks made Space Coast Hurricanes' netminders to work all game long, totaling 56 shots and forcing 47 saves. Parker Bonis made 17 stops and Ethan Loo made 30. Palm Beach Hawks put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Space Coast Hurricanes to score on any of its six power plays. Palm Beach Hawks outdid its season average for goals scored. Palm Beach Hawks has scored at the pace of five goals per game during the current campaign.

Palm Beach Hawks additionally got points from Kyle Taylor, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Greg Soltes, who also had one goal and one assist, Matt Gross, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Nick Haase, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Palm Beach Hawks included Joe LaBonte, who had one and Riley Egan, who had two. More assists for Palm Beach Hawks came via Jake Fairchild, who had three, Derek Blanchard and Ian Robertson, who each chipped in one, and Matt Hartman, Casey Mertens, and Craig Tomassi, who contributed two each.

Space Coast Hurricanes' offense efficiently hummed along to the tune of 32 shots put on Palm Beach Hawks' net.

Space Coast Hurricanes was led by Sam Trask, who finished with two goals. Trask scored the first of his two goals at 4:18 into the second period to make the score 7-1 Palm Beach Hawks. Chase Halbert picked up the assist. Trask's next tally made the score 7-2 Palm Beach Hawks with 4:02 left in the second period. Steven Casacelli assisted on the tally. In addition, Space Coast Hurricanes received assists from Jamie Chilcott and Andrew Sanders, who each chipped in one.

Palm Beach Hawks' Brad Rocheville stopped 30 shots out of the 32 that he faced. Palm Beach Hawks registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. Space Coast Hurricanes incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
