Chicago erases deficit to stun Ft. Wayne, 5-4

The Chicago Jr Bulldogs rallied from two goals down to secure a 5-4 win over the Ft. Wayne Federals.

Chicago let multiple leads slip away before eventually digging out of a two hole to pick up the win. The Jr Bulldogs took a 1-0 advantage on a goal by Vittorio Bruno at 7:40 in the first period. Chicago found itself down 3-1 after Ft. Wayne's Tyler Mason put the puck home at 13:20 in the second period. After evening things up at 4-4 on a power play goal by Derek Moss at 15:28 in the third, the Jr Bulldogs got the game-winner from Jordan Swiderski at 18:24 in the third period.

The win gave Chicago a 1-0 lead in the best of one series.

Joseph Mavrin also scored for Chicago. More assists for Chicago came via Peter Jorgensen, who had three and Colin McAuliffe and Garrett McCaig, who each chipped in one.

Other players who recorded assists for Ft. Wayne were Cody Hess, who had three.

Lee Satran made 25 saves for the Jr Bulldogs on 29 shots. Chicago totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. The Jr Bulldogs ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Bruno was ejected from the game. Jesse Weitzel rejected 24 shots on goal for the Federals. Ft. Wayne incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
