California Titans 18U squeaks by Orange County 18U, 3-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, California Titans 18U escaped with a 3-2 victory over Orange County 18U.

Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and Yanick Lacombe's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

California Titans 18U got the win behind a great game by Lacombe, who had two goals and one assist. Lacombe scored the first of his two goals at 11:51 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Chandler Madry assisted on the tally. Lacombe's next tally made the score 3-2 California Titans 18U with 5:32 left in the third period. California Titans 18U earned a power play opportunity when Jeffrey Murphy was put in the box for boarding. Brandon Anderson picked up the assist.

California Titans 18U's penalty kill excelled, as California Titans 18U gave up zero goals despite allowing seven power plays.

California Titans 18U stifled Orange County 18U's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. California Titans 18U was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 16 penalty minutes. The leading offender was Anderson, who totaled six minutes in penalty time with three minors.

California Titans 18U additionally got points from Lacombe, who also tallied two goals and one assist. Sean Kalbak also scored for California Titans 18U. More assists for California Titans 18U came via Simon Johansson and Lawton Courtnall, who contributed one each.

Orange County 18U was helped by James Mathias, who finished with one goal. Mathias scored 15:15 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Orange County 18U. Lonnie Clary assisted on the tally. Orange County 18U got a goal from Luke Rendino as well. In addition, Orange County 18U received assists from Brett Gervais, who had one.
