Central's Hebda deadly on offense in 5-2 win against North

Central relied on the scoring touch of Buster Hebda, who netted two goals, to beat North, 5-2.

Hebda found the back of the net 13:58 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Central and again while 18:56 into the third to make the score 5-2 Central.

Central forced North's goaltenders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, taking 33 shots and forcing 28 saves. Peter Megariotis made 16 stops and Joe Ballmer made 12. Central stifled North's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Central got a goal from Charlie Aus as well. Other players who recorded assists for Central were Christian Folin and Vadim Gyesbreghs, who contributed one each and Mack Ohnsted, Lane Mahoney, Bryce Schmitt, and Brandon Wahlin, who each chipped in two.

North failed to reach its usual level of shot production, putting 20 pucks on goal after averaging 28 shots per game this season. North did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. North averages four goals per game. North's defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. North is averaging two goals against for the season.

North was helped by Mike Moroso, who registered one goal. Moroso scored 13:07 into the first period to make the score 1-0 North. Logan Lemirande picked up the assist. Brock Raffaele also scored for North. More assists for North came via Renato Engler, Maxwell Reavis, and Derek Knetter, who contributed one each.

Central's starting goalie, Tommy Burke, made eight saves and finished with the win before he was taken out in favor of Tyler Bruggeman, who stopped 10 shots. Central incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. North incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
