Central survives NAHL 18U Selects comeback, wins 2-1

NAHL 18U Selects tried its best to erase a two-goal deficit, but Central would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 2-1.

Central took a 2-0 lead during the first period, only to have NAHL 18U Selects storm back on a Jude Warner goal 8:46 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

NAHL 18U Selects threw everything it had at Central's Tommy Burke, but he responded by making 16 saves to secure the win.

Central excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Central did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. Central averages four goals per game. The 38 shots that Central put on net surpassed Central's average of 33 shots per game this season.

Central was helped by Adam Chapie, who registered one goal and one assist. Chapie scored 11:36 into the first period to make the score Central. Evan Johnston assisted on the tally. Central additionally got points from Nick DAvolio, who also had one goal and one assist. More assists for Central came via Tucker Coborn, who had one.

Central was unable to stop NAHL 18U Selects from sending pucks towards the net, and NAHL 18U Selects eventually piled up 31 shots on goal.

Other players who recorded assists for NAHL 18U Selects were Evan Janssen and Brett DAndrea, who each chipped in one.

Central incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Tomas Sholl took the loss and made 14 saves before being replaced by Anthony Stolarz who made 22 saves. NAHL 18U Selects incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
