Ft. Wayne boosted by Weitzel's play in net, beats St. Louis 2-1

The Ft. Wayne Federals relied on the sparkling performance of Jesse Weitzel in net to grab a 2-1 win against the St. Louis Frontenacs.

Ft. Wayne was paced by Derek Moss, who grabbed one goal. Moss scored 19:41 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Ft. Wayne. Cody Hess assisted on the tally.

The Federals stifled St. Louis' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Ft. Wayne did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Federals average six goals per game. Ft. Wayne's offense efficiently hummed along to the tune of 35 shots put on the Frontenacs' net.

St. Louis put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Federals to score on any of their four power plays. The Frontenacs' offense operated below they season average. St. Louis puts an average of three pucks into the net per game. The Frontenacs forced Ft. Wayne goalie Weitzel to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots.

Ft. Wayne got a goal from Brendan Lewis as well. In addition, Ft. Wayne received assists from Tyler Mason and Chad Swartz, who each chipped in one.

St. Louis was led by Andrew Jarvis, who scored the team's only goal. Jarvis scored 3:09 into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Louis. Ryan Edwards picked up the assist.

The Frontenacs stifled the Federals' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Ft. Wayne excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances.

St. Louis was led by Jarvis, who scored the team's only goal.

Weitzel recorded 36 saves for the Federals. Ft. Wayne incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Bryan Lowery made 33 saves for the Frontenacs on 35 shots. St. Louis incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
