East Coast EJHL South Eagles rips Space Coast Hurricanes, 4-1

East Coast EJHL South Eagles had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 4-1 win over Space Coast Hurricanes.

Space Coast Hurricanes was stymied by East Coast EJHL South Eagles netminder Drew Weigman, who stopped 30 shots during the victory. The solid play of Weigman will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 4.1.

East Coast EJHL South Eagles got the win with help from a great game by Chase Harris, who had one goal and two assists. Harris scored 4:17 into the first period to make the score 1-0 East Coast EJHL South Eagles. James Bernado assisted on the tally.

East Coast EJHL South Eagles forced Space Coast Hurricanes goalie Parker Bonis to work between the pipes, taking 46 shots. East Coast EJHL South Eagles could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 38 minutes in penalties during the game. The leading offender was Bernado, who totaled 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one misconduct.

Jonathon Buttitta also scored for East Coast EJHL South Eagles. In addition, East Coast EJHL South Eagles received assists from Conner Gallagher, Joshua Stingley, and Troy Bubanic, who contributed one each.

Space Coast Hurricanes put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow East Coast EJHL South Eagles to score on any of its three power plays. Space Coast Hurricanes was held below its usual level of production. Space Coast Hurricanes averages three goals per game. Space Coast Hurricanes' offense efficiently hummed along to the tune of 31 shots put on East Coast EJHL South Eagles' net.

Space Coast Hurricanes was led by Charles Defelice, who scored the team's only goal. Defelice scored on the power play 3:37 into the second period to make the score 3-1 East Coast EJHL South Eagles. Space Coast Hurricanes had gained a power play chance when Alex Rivers was whistled for roughing. Alec Cochran provided the assist.

Space Coast Hurricanes' Bonis stopped 42 shots out of the 45 that he faced. Space Coast Hurricanes totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-10 on the power play.
