Huntsville wins tough contest against Mississippi Surge, 3-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Huntsville Havoc escaped with a 3-2 victory over Mississippi Surge.

No lead was more than one goal during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Mike MacDonald at 17:52 of the third period.

Huntsville was led by MacDonald, who racked up one goal.

The 30 shots that the Havoc put on net surpassed Huntsville's average of 21.7 shots per game this season.

Huntsville also got points from Dennis Sicard, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Huntsville also got a goal from Justin Fox as well. More assists for Huntsville came via Mark Sibbald, Brad Flynn, Jonathan Lafrance, Kyle Crawford, and Alex Morton, who each chipped in one.

Mississippi Surge stifled the Havoc's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The defensemen of Mississippi Surge were also effective in Huntsville's zone, and came away with two goals. By firing 36 shots on goal, Mississippi Surge exceeded the 25.8 shots it averages per game this year.

Mississippi Surge was helped by Glenn Cacaro, who tallied one goal. Cacaro scored 6:48 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Mississippi Surge. Jeff Grant assisted on the tally. Scott Jenks also scored for Mississippi Surge. In addition, Mississippi Surge received assists from James Isaacs and Shawn Skelly, who contributed one a piece.

Mark Sibbald made 34 saves for the Havoc on 36 shots. Huntsville totaled 21 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 0-for-3 on the power play. Nick Eno recorded 27 saves for Mississippi Surge. Mississippi Surge totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-2 on the power play.
