Fayetteville downs Knoxville in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

Chris Leveille gave the Fayetteville FireAntz a 4-3 (OT) victory over the Knoxville Ice Bears when he scored 26 seconds into the extra period.

Leveille had two goals to lead Fayetteville to victory.

Fayetteville additionally got points from Matt Smyth, who also registered one goal and one assist and Jesse Biduke, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. Other players who recorded assists for Fayetteville were Matt Rigtrup, Mike Forgie, Josh McQuade, Jesse Cole, and Robert Sich, who contributed one a piece.

Knoxville's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals. The Ice Bears put 60 shots on net during the contest, more than the 30.5 they average per game.

Knoxville was helped by Ricky Helmbrecht, who finished with two goals. Helmbrecht scored the first of his two goals at 2:59 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Mike Towns provided the assist. Helmbrecht's next tally made the score 3-2 Knoxville with 12:34 left in the third period. Emery Olauson picked up the assist. The FireAntz's Mike Brown stopped 57 shots out of the 60 that he faced. Fayetteville incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Matt Hache rejected 17 shots on goal for the Ice Bears. Knoxville incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
