The Fayetteville FireAntz's Josh McQuade scored 2:06 into overtime to beat the Augusta RiverHawks, 5-4 (OT). McQuade had two goals and one assist to lead Fayetteville. McQuade scored the first of his two goals short handed at 14:43 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Fayetteville. The FireAntz found themselves down a man on Matt Smyth's hooking. Bobby Reed picked up the assist. McQuade's next tally short handed made the score 5-4 Fayetteville with 17:54 left in overtime. Smyth provided the assist. Fayetteville's penalty kill excelled, as the FireAntz gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays. Fayetteville relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Robert Sich, Anthony Pisano and McQuade took 18 of the team's 33 shots. Fayetteville additionally got points from McQuade, who also finished with two goals and one assist and Chris Leveille, who also registered one goal and one assist. More assists for Fayetteville came via Mike Forgie and Sean Cryer, who each chipped in one. Augusta got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.
