Augusta falls to Fayetteville in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

The Fayetteville FireAntz's Josh McQuade scored 2:06 into overtime to beat the Augusta RiverHawks, 5-4 (OT).

McQuade had two goals and one assist to lead Fayetteville. McQuade scored the first of his two goals short handed at 14:43 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Fayetteville. The FireAntz found themselves down a man on Matt Smyth's hooking. Bobby Reed picked up the assist. McQuade's next tally short handed made the score 5-4 Fayetteville with 17:54 left in overtime. Smyth provided the assist.

Fayetteville's penalty kill excelled, as the FireAntz gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays.

Fayetteville relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Robert Sich, Anthony Pisano and McQuade took 18 of the team's 33 shots.

Fayetteville additionally got points from McQuade, who also finished with two goals and one assist and Chris Leveille, who also registered one goal and one assist. More assists for Fayetteville came via Mike Forgie and Sean Cryer, who each chipped in one.

Augusta got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

The RiverHawks were led by Drew Baker, who had one goal and one assist. Baker scored 16:53 into the third period to make the score 3-3. John Kearns assisted on the tally. Augusta also got points from Baker, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Augusta got a goal from Jason Price as well. In addition, Augusta received assists from Egor Mironov, Matt Auffrey, Neil Graham, and Branden Kosolofsky, who contributed one each.

The FireAntz's Mike Brown stopped 20 shots out of the 24 that he faced. Fayetteville incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Jon Olthuis made 28 saves for Augusta on 33 shots. The RiverHawks incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
