Snetsinger leads Augusta over Fayetteville, 4-1

The Augusta RiverHawks' Ed Snetsinger had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 4-1 win over the Fayetteville FireAntz.

Snetsinger's tallies came on the power play at 16:15 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and on the power play 6:37 into the second to make the score 2-1 Augusta.

The defensemen of Augusta were also effective in Fayetteville's zone, and came away with two goals. The RiverHawks put 36 shots on net during the contest, more than the 24 they average per game.

Augusta additionally got points from Jim Gehring, who also registered one goal and one assist, Matt Auffrey, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Snetsinger, who also finished with two goals and one assist. In addition, Augusta received assists from Neil Graham, who had two and Egor Mironov, Tyler Fernandez, and Jason Price, who each chipped in one.

The FireAntz were held below their usual level of production. Fayetteville puts an average of three pucks into the net per game. The FireAntz could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 14 minutes in penalties during the game. The leading offender was Robert Sich, who totaled four minutes in penalty time with two minors.

Fayetteville was led by Chris Leveille, who scored the team's only goal. Leveille scored 11:03 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Fayetteville. Sich picked up the assist.

Jon Olthuis turned away 24 pucks between the pipes for Augusta. The RiverHawks incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. The FireAntz's Mike Brown stopped 32 shots out of the 36 that he faced. Fayetteville registered zero goals on two power play opportunities.
