Space Coast Hurricanes falls apart in second, loses to East Coast Eagles, 7-2

Space Coast Hurricanes was within striking distance after one period, but East Coast Eagles put the pedal down in the second en route to a 7-2 victory.

East Coast Eagles was led by Joshua Martinez, who had one goal and one assist. Martinez scored 6:21 into the second period to make the score 5-1 East Coast Eagles. Samuel Banasiewicz provided the assist.

East Coast Eagles stifled Space Coast Hurricanes' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Space Coast Hurricanes was unable to stop East Coast Eagles from sending pucks towards the net, and East Coast Eagles eventually piled up 62 shots on goal. East Coast Eagles surpassed its usual scoring output this season. East Coast Eagles has scored at the pace of three goals per game during the current campaign. East Coast Eagles found itself short handed often, totaling 17 penalty minutes and allowing five power plays. The leading offender was Connor Sheehey, who totaled five minutes in penalty time with one major. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with three goals.

East Coast Eagles also got points from Kevin Mullaney, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Chris Magee, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Banasiewicz, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Kyle Williams also scored for East Coast Eagles. Other players who recorded assists for East Coast Eagles were Elijah Spear, who had one and AJ Seffels, Brian Clare, and Matthew Burleson, who contributed two each.

Space Coast Hurricanes was helped by Tom Hammond, who racked up one goal. Hammond scored 13:50 into the first period to make the score 2-1 East Coast Eagles. Marc Vautour assisted on the tally. Space Coast Hurricanes got a goal from Stephen Lojo as well. More assists for Space Coast Hurricanes came via Toby Bell, who had one.

East Coast Eagles' Scott Jackson stopped 19 shots out of the 21 that he faced. East Coast Eagles registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Ian Shidlofsky turned away 55 pucks between the pipes for Space Coast Hurricanes. Space Coast Hurricanes ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major.
