Jersey Wildcats vanquishes Potomac Patriots in shootout, 4-3 (2-1 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Jersey Wildcats Wildcats defeated the Potomac Patriots Patriots in a shootout 4-3 (2-1 SO).

The shootout lasted for 12 attempts between the teams. Potomac Patriots' shootout goal was scored by Peter Wydler. In addition to the clincher, Jersey Wildcats got a shootout goal from Geoffrey Liter.

The Wildcats overcame a three-goal deficit to capture the victory. Jersey Wildcats trailed 3-0 after a power play goal by the Patriots' Peter Veltri at 15:02 in the second period. The Wildcats tied things up at 3-3 on a goal by Patrick Lackey at 19:12 in the third period.

Jersey Wildcats was sparked by Lackey, who finished with one goal and one assist.

The Wildcats' offense efficiently hummed along to the tune of 54 shots put on Potomac Patriots' net.

Jersey Wildcats additionally got points from Nicholas Branchina, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Jersey Wildcats got a goal from Ryan Strapp as well. Other players who recorded assists for Jersey Wildcats were Richard Hudzik, Liter, Erik Andersson, and Scott Mogerley, who contributed one each.

The Patriots made Wildcats' goalies to work between the pipes, firing 46 shots and forcing 43 saves. Mark Specia made 21 stops and Thomas Noce made 22. Potomac Patriots excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances.

The Patriots were helped by Alexander Grose, who had one goal. Grose scored 45 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Potomac Patriots. Charles Rempe assisted on the tally. Andrew Turgeon also scored for Potomac Patriots. More assists for Potomac Patriots came via Isaiah Olschewske, Michael Carr, and Joe Pouliot, who each chipped in one.

Jersey Wildcats incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Dustyn Moyer made 50 saves for Potomac Patriots on 53 shots. The Patriots incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
