Pirovano leads Junior Bruins over Mass Maple Leafs, 6-2

Behind a great game by Michael Pirovano, who had one goal and three assists, Junior Bruins defeated Mass Maple Leafs, 6-2.

Pirovano got on the board by slotting home a short handed goal 13:10 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Junior Bruins. Junior Bruins played down a man on Nelson Pulling's interference. Zach Sandonato provided the assist. Pirovano dished an assist on Hayden Voss' goal that made the score 1-0 Junior Bruins at 4:17 into the first period. He then added assists on Nolan Hamilton's goal at 9:03 into the third and on Pat Mahoney's goal at 18:23 into the third.

Junior Bruins' penalty kill excelled, as Junior Bruins gave up one goal despite allowing eight power plays.

The referees were busy during the game, as 17 penalties were assessed during the course of the contest.

Junior Bruins was often in penalty trouble, totaling nine minors and one major for 33 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 16 minutes per game Junior Bruins had been spending in the box. Junior Bruins' offense efficiently hummed along to the tune of 38 shots put on Mass Maple Leafs' net.

Junior Bruins also got points from Henry Fairbairn, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Hamilton, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Gabe Lamontagne also scored for Junior Bruins. Other players who recorded assists for Junior Bruins were Bryan Carter, Daniel Resop, and Paul Martone, who contributed one each.

Mass Maple Leafs put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Junior Bruins to score on any of its six power plays. Mass Maple Leafs' offense operated below it season average. Mass Maple Leafs puts an average of six pucks into the net per game. Mass Maple Leafs kept Junior Bruins' goalie busy throughout the game, and Shane Benjamin made 30 saves on 32 shots. Mass Maple Leafs gave up more goals than its normal season average. Mass Maple Leafs is averaging two goals against for the season.

Mass Maple Leafs was helped by Joseph Fernandes, who grabbed one goal. Fernandes scored 2:01 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Junior Bruins. Mass Maple Leafs got a goal from Samuel Jenkins as well. In addition, Mass Maple Leafs received assists from Tyler Person and Michael Owen, who each chipped in one.

For Junior Bruins, Dan Pirovano was ejected from the game. Cody Stocker recorded 32 saves for Mass Maple Leafs. Mass Maple Leafs incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
