Missoula blows out Bozeman, 9-4Haynes Pavillion Sat, Mar 10, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
Missoula had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 9-4 win over Bozeman. Missoula made Bozeman's goaltenders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, firing 33 shots and forcing 24 saves. Jordan Lehr made 23 stops and Richard Fithian made one. Missoula was helped by Corey Schafer, who finished with one goal and one assist. Schafer scored on the power play 17:51 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Missoula. A unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on Nick Sova had put Missoula on the power play. Alan Maul provided the assist. Missoula also got points from Paxton Bell, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Jimmy Morris, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and David Johnson, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Missoula also had goals scored by Brett Mathews, who had two and Tim Schmidt, Blair Murphy, and Cory Shafer, who each put in one. More assists for Missoula came via Dustin Pierce, Donovan Mattfeldt, and Oscar Bjorkander, who contributed one a piece. Bozeman was helped by Garrett Guthrie, who finished with one goal. Guthrie scored on the power play 7:22 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Missoula. Bozeman had gotten the advantage when Missoula's Mattfeldt was sent off for interference. Zane Barragree assisted on the tally. Bozeman additionally got points from Colin Perley, who also registered one goal and one assist. Bozeman also got a goal from Bradley Hefner as well. In addition, Bozeman received assists from Zach Baker, Brendan Kelly, Jordan Matthys, and Brady Hefner, who each chipped in one. McKinlee Baum rejected 25 shots on goal for Missoula. Missoula incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Missoula ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Maul was ejected from the game. Bozeman incurred 40 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors. For Bozeman, Guthrie was ejected from the game.
