Moneer's big game bests Billings in 6-3 Gillette win

Gillette's Casey Moneer had a big offensive game, scoring one goal and contributing two assists in his team's 6-3 win over Billings.

Moneer beat Nic Wackerly with a shot 11:02 into the first period on the power play to make the score 2-0 Gillette. Gillette had gotten the advantage when Billings' Billy Mata was sent off for interference. Adam Pecht provided the assist. Moneer dished an assist on Stanislav Izvekov's goal that made the score 4-0 Gillette at 18:44 into the first period. He added another helper on Pecht's goal that made the score 5-1 Gillette at 15:17 into the second period.

Gillette forced Billings goalie Wackerly to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots.

Gillette also got points from Matt Rose, who also racked up one goal and two assists and Tyler Cavan, who also had two goals and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Gillette were Ronnie Wilshusen, Andrew Lillard, and John Burke, who contributed one a piece.

Billings' offense rang up 31 shots on Gillette's net.

Billings was led by John Vant, who grabbed one goal. Vant scored on the power play 3:34 into the third period to make the score 5-3 Gillette. An elbowing penalty on Trent Dillinger had put Billings on the power play. Mata picked up the assist. Sawyer Jacobson also scored for Billings. More assists for Billings came via Paul Hoffman, Christopher Timm, and Nikolas Nasby, who each chipped in one.

Grant Friesen rejected 28 shots on goal for Gillette. Gillette incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Wackerly recorded 27 saves for Billings. Billings incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
