Missoula rolls over Gillette, 6-2Glacier Ice Rink Sat, Mar 03, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
Missoula had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-2 win over Gillette. Missoula was led by CJ Morrison, who grabbed one goal. Morrison scored on the power play 13:23 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Missoula. Missoula had gained a power play chance when Casey Moneer was whistled for tripping. Will Stawinski assisted on the tally. Missoula put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Gillette to score on any of its four power plays. Missoula kept Gillette's goalie busy throughout the game, and Grant Friesen made 36 saves on 42 shots. The defensemen of Missoula were also effective in Gillette's zone, and came away with two goals. Missoula also had goals scored by Jimmy Morris, who had two and Tim Schmidt and Brett Mathews, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Missoula were Dustin Pierce, Alan Maul, Paxton Bell, and Cory Shafer, who each chipped in one and Zach Paisley and Corey Schafer, who contributed two a piece. Gillette was led by Taylor Motsinger, who tallied one goal. Motsinger scored 3:17 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Brandon Miller also scored for Gillette. More assists for Gillette came via Adam Pecht, who had one. McKinlee Baum recorded 14 saves for Missoula. Missoula totaled 43 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 2-for-5 on the power play. Gillette ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major.
