Hefner leads Bozeman over Billings, 5-2

Brady Hefner was all over the ice for Bozeman, as he tallied two goals and two assists in Bozeman's 5-2 win over Billings.

Hefner's tallies came on the power play at 4:31 into the second period to make the score 2-2 and 18:26 into the third to make the score 5-2 Bozeman.

The referees were busy during the game, as 14 penalties were assessed during the course of the contest.

Billings was unable to stop Bozeman from sending pucks towards the net, and Bozeman eventually piled up 37 shots on goal. Bozeman could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 14 minutes in penalties during the game. The leading offender was Mark Lypkan, who totaled four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Bozeman's defensemen played an important role in the offense, as they chipped in three goals.

Bozeman also got points from Nick Sova, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Hefner, who also tallied two goals and two assists. Bozeman got a goal from Bradley Hefner as well. In addition, Bozeman received assists from Zach Baker and Garrett Guthrie, who contributed three each.

Billings could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 14 minutes in penalties during the game. The leading offender was Colter Endy, who totaled four minutes in penalty time with two minors.

Billings was led by Sawyer Jacobson, who racked up two goals. Jacobson scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 2:28 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Billings earned a power play opportunity when Sova was put in the box for checking from behind. Alex Herman provided the assist. Jacobson's next tally on the power play made the score 2-1 Billings with 15:57 left in the second period. Billings had taken the advantage when Bozeman's John Hagy got sent off for tripping. Jarret Stark assisted on the tally. Other players who recorded assists for Billings were Paul Hoffman, who had one.

Robert Meadows recorded 21 saves for Bozeman. Bozeman registered two goals on seven power play opportunities. Nic Wackerly made 32 saves for Billings on 36 shots. Billings registered two goals on eight power play opportunities.
