Motsinger nets hat trick, leads Gillette to 11-3 win over Great Falls

Great Falls could not stop Gillette's Taylor Motsinger, who tallied a hat trick in an 11-3 win.

Motsinger got on the scoresheet 3:25 into the first period. He then added goals at 8:06 into the first and at 11:10 into the first.

Gillette scored early and often, and held a 5-0 advantage after the first 20 minutes of play.

Both teams had a hard time staying out of the box, and they combined for 17 penalties during the game.

Gillette made Great Falls' goalies to work without much rest, taking 43 shots and forcing 32 saves. Riley Poe made zero stops and Michael Mcdaniels made 32. Gillette had trouble staying out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 20 penalty minutes for 10 opposing power plays. The leading offender was Christian Pettigrew, who totaled four minutes in penalty time with two minors. The defensemen of Gillette were also effective in Great Falls' zone, and came away with two goals.

Gillette additionally got points from Trent Dillinger, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Stanislav Izvekov, who also registered two goals and one assist, and Casey Moneer, who also racked up one goal and two assists. Gillette got a goal from Chris Miracle as well. Other players who recorded assists for Gillette were Ronnie Wilshusen, Brandon Miller, Matt Rose, and Jason Forney, who contributed two each and Tyler Cavan and Tyler Johnson, who each chipped in three.

Great Falls found itself short handed often, totaling 27 penalty minutes and allowing seven power plays. The leading offender was Connor Barta, who totaled 12 minutes in penalty time with one minor and one misconduct.

Great Falls was helped by Brady Christiaens, who had two goals. Christiaens scored the first of his two goals at 3:25 into the second period to make the score 6-1 Gillette. Logan Schermele provided the assist. Christiaens' next tally made the score 11-3 Gillette with 1:25 left in the third period. Great Falls had gotten the advantage when Gillette's Miracle was sent off for head contact. Schermele picked up the assist. Great Falls also got points from Jaret Retterath, who also tallied one goal and one assist. More assists for Great Falls came via Dylan Anderson, who had two.

Sean Langrieger made eight saves before being replaced by Grant Friesen, who took the win and made 18 saves.
