Helena rolls over Billings, 7-1

Helena had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-1 win over Billings.

Drew Ingram had a great game for Helena, netting two goals. Ingram found the back of the net 14:03 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Helena and again while 18 seconds into the second to make the score 3-0 Helena.

Billings was stymied by Helena netminder Jett Salinas, who stopped 37 shots during the victory. Salinas certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 1.64 entering the contest.

Billings was unable to stop Helena from sending pucks towards the net, and Helena eventually piled up 59 shots on goal. Helena was often in penalty trouble, as it ended with nine minors and one major for 23 minutes in penalty time. The leading offender was Dalton Bowles, who totaled six minutes in penalty time with three minors.

Helena additionally got points from Trevor Tracy, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Helena got a goal from Danny Fazio as well. More assists for Helena came via Alex DeWitz, Michael Sullivan, and Cody Blom, who each chipped in one, Devin Smith and Balasz Goz, who contributed two each, and Ben Henne and Tyler Narsing, who each chipped in three.

Billings forced Helena goalie Salinas to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots. Billings had trouble staying out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 51 penalty minutes for eight opposing power plays. The leading offender was Colby Spoonemore, who totaled 29 minutes in penalty time with two minors, one major and a game misconduct.

Billings was led by Paul Hoffman, who scored the team's only goal. Hoffman scored on the power play 6:35 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Helena. Billings had gotten the advantage when Helena's Henne was sent off for slashing. Spoonemore assisted on the tally.

Nic Wackerly recorded 52 saves for Billings. Billings registered one goal on seven power play opportunities. Billings ran into disciplinary problems during the contest, and Spoonemore was ejected from the game.
