Traverse City survives Jamestown comeback, wins 3-2

The Jamestown Ironmen tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the Traverse City North Stars held on for a 3-2 victory.

A goal by Will Badner put Traverse City up 3-0 in the second period, but Jamestown pulled to within one on Jon Smith's tally 15:33 into the third period.

The 26 shots that the North Stars put on net surpassed Traverse City's average of 22.6 shots per game this season.

The North Stars were helped by Alexander Taulien, who had one goal. Taulien scored 7:58 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Traverse City. Badner provided the assist. Traverse City also got points from Badner, who also registered one goal and one assist. Traverse City also got a goal from Eric Jones as well. More assists for Traverse City came via Jake Peacock, who had one and Kyle Schempp and Seth Adams, who contributed two a piece.

The Ironmen's defensemen also contributed in the offensive zone and ended up with 12 shots between them.

Jamestown was helped by Jeff McFarland, who grabbed one goal. McFarland scored on the power play 19:21 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Traverse City. The Ironmen had taken the advantage when Traverse City's Frank Gilbert got sent off for holding. Anthony Coles picked up the assist. In addition, Jamestown received assists from John Roisum, who had one and Cody Sarmiento, who had two.

Kyle Laslo made 21 saves for the North Stars on 23 shots. Traverse City incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Joe Gladnick rejected 23 shots on goal for Jamestown. The Ironmen totaled 19 minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 1-for-2 on the power play. For Jamestown, Bryan Watt was ejected from the game.
