Port Huron holds on for 2-1 win against Kalamazoo

The Kalamazoo Jr. K Wings tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Port Huron Fighting Falcons would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 2-1.

Port Huron took a 2-0 lead during the third period, only to have Kalamazoo storm back on a Taylor Burden goal 17:29 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

The Jr. K Wings were stymied by the Fighting Falcons netminder Max Milosek, who stopped 28 shots during the victory. The solid play of Milosek will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.55.

Port Huron was led by Nicholas Sierra, who registered one goal. Sierra scored on the power play 13:44 into the third period to make the score Port Huron. A hooking penalty on Jacob McDowell had put the Fighting Falcons on the power play. Alex Globke picked up the assist.

Port Huron's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Kalamazoo power plays.

Port Huron also got points from Globke, who also finished with one goal and one assist. More assists for Port Huron came via Bret Lewandowski, who had one and Jake Goldberg, who had two.

Kalamazoo did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Jr. K Wings average 3.5 goals per game. The defense for Kalamazoo played an important role offensively, racking up 14 shots on goal.

Other players who recorded assists for Kalamazoo were Danny Hamburg, who had one.

The Fighting Falcons incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Kenneth MacLean rejected 28 shots on goal for the Jr. K Wings. Kalamazoo incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
