The Texas Tornado took the lead against the Corpus Christi IceRays in the first period and maintained it until the end of the game to secure a tight 3-1 victory. Texas took over the lead for good with a goal by Jordan Greenberg at 16:57 in the first period. Jack Prince assisted on the tally.The Tornado were led by Marc Biggs, who had one goal and one assist. Biggs scored on the power play 6:01 into the third period to make the score 2-0 Texas. Texas had taken the advantage when Corpus Christi's Greg Chapman got sent off for holding. Greenberg picked up the assist. The Tornado stifled the IceRays' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Texas' offense was clicking better than usual and put 47 shots on goal during the game, better than the 27.8 shots per game it averages. Texas additionally got points from Greenberg, who also registered one goal and one assist. Drew Mayer also scored for Texas. More assists for Texas came via Nick Neville, who had one. Corpus Christi was led by AJ Jarosz, who scored the team's only goal. Jarosz scored 15:05 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Texas. Frederick Leisner made 18 saves for the Tornado on 19 shots. Texas incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Anthony Stolarz rejected 44 shots on goal for the IceRays. Corpus Christi incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
