Gattelaro's hat trick boosts Kalamazoo over Port Huron, 7-4

The Port Huron Fighting Falcons could not stop the Kalamazoo Jr. K Wings' Kyle Gattelaro, who tallied a hat trick in a 7-4 win.

Gattelaro's first goal came 8:10 into the second period. He then added goals at 7:25 into the third and at 10:01 into the third.

Kalamazoo surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, the Jr. K Wings average 3.6 goals per contest.

Kalamazoo also got points from Nick Kovalchik, who also finished with one goal and two assists and Jacob McDowell, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. Andrew Graves also scored for Kalamazoo. More assists for Kalamazoo came via Brandon Flood, who had three and Chris Leone, Daniel Cesarz, and Danny Hamburg, who each chipped in one.

By firing 41 shots on goal, Port Huron exceeded the 30.9 shots it averages per game this year.

The Fighting Falcons were helped by Logan Lemirande, who tallied one goal. Lemirande scored 8:40 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Alex Globke provided the assist. Port Huron additionally got points from Brett DAndrea, who also had one goal and one assist. Port Huron also got a goal from Easton Powers as well. Other players who recorded assists for Port Huron were Maxwell Reavis, who had two and Nolan Valleau, Rick DeRosa, and Sean Gammage, who contributed one a piece.

Kalamazoo's Alex Okicki stopped 37 shots out of the 41 that he faced. The Jr. K Wings incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors and had no power play opportunities. Max Milosek made 21 saves for Port Huron on 28 shots. The Fighting Falcons ended with no penalties and went 0-for-2 on the power play.
