Dawson Creek's McCallum deadly on offense in 5-2 win against Alaska

The Dawson Creek Rage relied on the scoring touch of Tyson McCallum, who netted two goals, to beat the Alaska Avalanche, 5-2.

McCallum found the back of the net on the power play 13:50 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Dawson Creek and again while 16:33 into the first to make the score 2-0 Dawson Creek.

Dawson Creek did not challenge the opposing netminder, getting only 13 shots on net to force eight saves. Team.mascot's final shot tally was well below the team's average of 20.3 pucks on net per game. The Rage's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Alaska power plays. Dawson Creek bested its season scoring average. The Rage have scored at the pace of 2.3 goals per game during the current campaign.

Dawson Creek also got points from Troy Petrick, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Carter Page, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Dawson Creek also got a goal from Jason Wark as well. Other players who recorded assists for Dawson Creek were Josh Hartley, Keenan Bailey, Stephen Zipp, Ryan Matthews, and Austin Adduono, who contributed one a piece.

Alaska's offense was clicking better than usual and put 42 shots on goal during the game, better than the 25.5 shots per game it averages.

The Avalanche were helped by Brandon Brossoit, who grabbed one goal. Brossoit scored 13:31 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Dawson Creek. Tanner Fahlstedt assisted on the tally. Mitch Kontny also scored for Alaska. In addition, Alaska received assists from Wehebe Darge, Kevin Novakovich, and Gage Christianson, who each chipped in one.

Dawson Creek's Paul Bourbeau stopped 40 shots out of the 42 that he faced. The Rage incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Bodhi Engum made eight saves for Alaska on 13 shots. The Avalanche incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
