Walker lifts Kenai River over Dawson Creek, 5-2

Behind a great game by Ryan Walker, who had two goals, the Kenai River Brown Bears defeated the Dawson Creek Rage, 5-2.

Walker scored on the power play at 1:07 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Kenai River and again while 10:01 into the third to make the score 3-2 Kenai River.

Kenai River's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Dawson Creek power plays. The Brown Bears' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in three goals. Kenai River's offense was clicking better than usual and put 39 shots on goal during the game, better than the 25.5 shots per game it averages.

Kenai River additionally got points from Sean Muller, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Kenai River also got a goal from Jesse Ramsey as well. In addition, Kenai River received assists from Jacob Davidson, Kellen Wasell, Zac Lazzaro, and Marek Hemsky, who each chipped in one and Brett Lubanski and Matt Thompson, who contributed two a piece.

The 28 shots that Dawson Creek put on net surpassed the Rage's average of 20.1 shots per game this season.

Dawson Creek was helped by Ryan Matthews, who tallied one goal. Matthews scored 1:52 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Tyson McCallum provided the assist. Luke Ripley also scored for Dawson Creek. Other players who recorded assists for Dawson Creek were Scott Fellnermayr and Carter Page, who each chipped in one.

Austin Severson made 26 saves for the Brown Bears on 28 shots. Kenai River incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Paul Bourbeau recorded 34 saves for the Rage. Dawson Creek incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
