Huge game by Kalisz boosts St. Louis over Springfield, 8-4Nelson Center Sat, Mar 24, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The St. Louis Bandits' Joe Kalisz had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 8-4 win over the Springfield Jr. Blues. Kalisz found the back of the net 5:22 into the second period to make the score 3-1 St. Louis and again while on the power play 15:44 into the second to make the score 6-1 St. Louis.St. Louis stifled Springfield's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Bandits found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. St. Louis has scored at the pace of 3.8 goals per game during the current campaign. With 32 shots on target during the contest, the Bandits exceeded the 28.7 shots they average per game this year. St. Louis additionally got points from Taylor Wolfe, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Joseph Birmingham, who also had one goal and one assist, Luc Boby, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Ryan Hogland, who also tallied two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. St. Louis also got a goal from Patrick Pollock as well. More assists for St. Louis came via Drew Kariofiles, who had two and Cody Ganchar, Frank Dichiara, Josh Dangel, Rance Hughes, and Ryan Stouffer, who contributed one a piece. The Jr. Blues forced St. Louis goalie Spencer Viele to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots. Springfield was helped by Chris Sitler, who had one goal. Sitler scored 17:17 into the first period to make the score 2-1 St. Louis. Kyle Cook picked up the assist. Springfield also got points from Cook, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Guan Wang also scored for Springfield. In addition, Springfield received assists from Cody Dixon, who had two and Gavin Tufte, Brett Skibba, and Jordan Johnson, who each chipped in one. Viele rejected 28 shots on goal for the Bandits. St. Louis incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Tyler Parks took the loss and made 14 saves before being replaced by Gabe Antoni who made 10 saves. The Jr. Blues incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
