Bitzer leads Alexandria to shutout victory over MinotMaysa Arena Fri, Mar 23, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
Michael Bitzer made 30 saves to complete the shutout and led the Alexandria Blizzard to a 3-0 win against the Minot Minotauros. Alexandria was led by Hayden Trupp, who finished with one goal. Trupp scored 7:10 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Alexandria. Dylan Zink provided the assist. The Blizzard's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Minot power plays. Alexandria was below its usual level of shot production, taking 20 shots compared to the 28.6 the Blizzard average. Alexandria featured an improved defense during the game. The Blizzard average 2.6 goals allowed per game. Jordan Krebsbach also scored for Alexandria. In addition, Alexandria received assists from Justin Moody, who had two and Thomas Williams, Gage Torrel, and Reid Sturos, who contributed one a piece. Minot excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. By firing 30 shots on goal, the Minotauros exceeded the 18.1 shots they average per game this year. Minot was led by Jadin Martin, who took seven shots. Alexandria incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Minotauros' starting goalie, Jake Hebda, made six saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Tim Shaughnessy, who stopped 11 shots.
