Behind a great game by Karl Andersen, who had two goals, the Fresno Monsters defeated the Wenatchee Wild, 3-0. Andersen scored at 1:30 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Fresno and again while 5:47 into the third to make the score 2-0 Fresno.Tomas Sholl spearheaded the defensive effort for Fresno, as he did not allow a puck past him and made 35 saves for the shutout. The solid play of Sholl will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.31. The Monsters stifled Wenatchee's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Fresno's defensive effort looked to be improved. The Monsters allow 2.9 goals per game. Fresno also got a goal from Nathan Ropelewski as well. In addition, Fresno received assists from Brett Blomgren, Jeffrey Pauluk, and Dominic Valencia, who contributed one a piece. The Wild managed to stay out of the box better than usual, registering one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Wenatchee finished below its season average of 22.0 penalty minutes per game. The Wild were held below their usual level of production. Wenatchee puts an average of 2.7 pucks into the net per game. The Wild forced Fresno goalie Sholl to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots. Wenatchee was led by Kyle Huson, who took five shots. The Monsters incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Robert Nichols rejected 15 shots on goal for the Wild. Wenatchee registered zero goals on four power play opportunities.
