Springfield holds on for 4-3 win against St. Louis

The St. Louis Bandits tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the Springfield Jr. Blues held on for a 4-3 victory.

Springfield took a 4-1 lead during the third period, only to have St. Louis storm back on a Joe Kalisz goal 16:38 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

The Jr. Blues were sparked by Tyler Rehm, who racked up one goal. Rehm scored 16:49 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Springfield. Chris Sitler picked up the assist.

Springfield excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances.

Springfield also got points from Kyle Cook, who also had one goal and one assist and Josef Pontasch, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Springfield also got a goal from Ethan Nauman as well. In addition, Springfield received assists from Kevin Walters, Brett Skibba, Cody Dixon, and Cody Kohn, who each chipped in one.

With 49 shots on target during the contest, the Bandits exceeded the 27.9 shots they average per game this year.

Frank Dichiara also scored for St. Louis. More assists for St. Louis came via Taylor Wolfe, Joseph Birmingham, Drew Slaton, and Rance Hughes, who contributed one a piece.

Gabe Antoni made 46 saves for the Jr. Blues on 49 shots. Springfield incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Tyler Green recorded 24 saves for St. Louis. The Bandits incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
