Amarillo blows out New Mexico, 10-1Amarillo Fri, Mar 23, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Amarillo Bulls had a six-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 10-1 win over the New Mexico Mustangs. Ryan Cole was all over the ice for Amarillo, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Cole scored the first of his two goals at 10:00 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Amarillo. John Rey picked up the assist. Cole's next tally made the score 3-0 Amarillo with 2:12 left in the first period. Mike Erickson assisted on the tally. The Bulls put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow New Mexico to score on any of its four power plays. Amarillo outdid its season average for goals scored. The Bulls have scored at the pace of 4.4 goals per game during the current campaign. The 48 shots that Amarillo put on net surpassed the Bulls' average of 33.7 shots per game this season. Amarillo additionally got points from Brooks Behling, who also tallied two goals and one assist and John Gustafsson, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Jude Warner also scored for Amarillo. More assists for Amarillo came via Mike Davis, who had three, Geoff Fortman and Cody Rodgers, who each chipped in one, and Karl Beckman, TJ Sarcona, and Clint Carlisle, who contributed two a piece. Mike Taffe recorded 21 saves for Amarillo. The Bulls totaled 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors and two majors and went 1-for-2 on the power play. Randy Graham made 38 saves for the Mustangs on 48 shots. New Mexico ended with 24 minutes in penalty time with two minors and two majors.
