Parks, Springfield blank Janesville, 4-0

Tyler Parks recorded a shutout against the Janesville Jets as the Springfield Jr. Blues picked up a 4-0 win.

Springfield was sparked by Mike Williams, who had one goal. Williams scored on the power play 5:39 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Springfield. A tripping penalty on Truman Landowski had put the Jr. Blues on the power play. Cody Dixon assisted on the tally.

Springfield put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Janesville to score on any of its four power plays. The Jr. Blues were below their usual level of shot production, taking 21 shots compared to the 28.3 Springfield averages.

Springfield additionally got points from Josef Pontasch, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Chris Sitler, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Springfield also got a goal from Radim Matus as well. Other players who recorded assists for Springfield were Kyle Cook, who had one and Kevin Walters, who had two.

The Jets could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Janesville puts an average of 2.9 pucks into the net per game. The Jets struggled on the penalty kill, allowing the Jr. Blues to score two power play goals on three chances. The 41 shots that Janesville put on net surpassed the Jets' average of 29.1 shots per game this season.

Janesville was led by Connor McBride, who took five shots.

Springfield's Parks stopped 41 shots out of the 41 that he faced. The Jr. Blues ended with 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. Tony Kujava made 17 saves for the Jets on 21 shots. Janesville ended with 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major.
