Wenatchee wins tough contest against Dawson Creek, 3-2

The Wenatchee Wild gutted out a close 3-2 win against the Dawson Creek Rage.

No lead was more than one goal during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Blake Roubos at 14:00 of the third period.

Wenatchee was led by Roubos, who racked up one goal.

Dawson Creek was unable to stop the Wild from sending pucks towards the net, and Wenatchee eventually piled up 38 shots on goal.

Wenatchee also got points from Matt Cope, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Chris Kerr also scored for Wenatchee. In addition, Wenatchee received assists from Chris Knudson, Max McHugh, Shawn Pauly, and Trace Redmond, who each chipped in one.

The Rage were often in penalty trouble, totaling 10 minors and one major for 45 minutes in penalty time. Dawson Creek surpassed its season average of 25.0 penalty minutes per game. With 25 shots on target during the contest, the Rage exceeded the 19.5 shots they average per game this year.

Dawson Creek was helped by Scott Fellnermayr, who grabbed one goal. Fellnermayr scored 3:44 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Drew Nikirk provided the assist. Dawson Creek also got a goal from Stephen Zipp as well. More assists for Dawson Creek came via Keenan Bailey, Shawn Mueller, and Austin Adduono, who contributed one a piece.

Robert Nichols rejected 23 shots on goal for the Wild. Wenatchee totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 2-for-7 on the power play. Edward Dyson recorded 35 saves for the Rage. Dawson Creek registered zero goals on two power play opportunities.
