Topeka stifles St. Louis' comeback, gains 4-2 victory

The Topeka RoadRunners, who led by three goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by Topeka and clinched a 4-2 victory.

The RoadRunners led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when Topeka's Anders Schultz's scored at 16:05 in the second period to put the RoadRunners up 3-0.

Topeka was helped by Kyle Sharkey, who had one goal and one assist. Sharkey scored 18:30 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Topeka. Sean Gaffney assisted on the tally. Topeka also got a goal from Ben Bahe as well. In addition, Topeka received assists from Michal Pastor, Trace Strahle, Richard Young, and Brian Christie, who contributed one a piece.

The St. Louis Bandits allowed the opposing goalie to relax, ripping only eight shots on goal to force six saves. Team.mascot's final shot tally was well below the team's average of 28.5 pucks on net per game. St. Louis excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. The Bandits were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 20 penalty minutes.

St. Louis was helped by Ryan Stouffer, who grabbed one goal. Stouffer scored 11:24 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Topeka. Joe Kalisz picked up the assist. Josh Dangel also scored for St. Louis. Other players who recorded assists for St. Louis were Greg Johnson and Joseph Birmingham, who each chipped in one.

Collin LeMay made 6 saves for the RoadRunners on eight shots. Topeka incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Bandits' Spencer Viele stopped 16 shots out of the 20 that he faced. St. Louis registered one goal on two power play opportunities.
