Huge game by Hansen boosts Austin over Minot, 7-4

Matt Hansen was all over the ice for the Austin Bruins, as he tallied two goals and one assist in Austin's 7-4 win over the Minot Minotauros.

Hansen found the back of the net 8:41 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Austin and again while on the power play 1:47 into the third to make the score 6-1 Austin.

The Bruins were often in penalty trouble, totaling 10 minors and two majors for 30 minutes in penalty time. Austin surpassed its season average of 16.0 penalty minutes per game. The Bruins surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Austin has scored at the pace of 3.3 goals per game during the current campaign. The 41 shots that the Bruins put on net surpassed Austin's average of 26.3 shots per game this season.

Austin also got points from Charlie Adams, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Jeremy Finger, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Chris Fischer also scored for Austin. More assists for Austin came via Brandon Wahlin, who had two, Jonathan Gehrt, who had three, and Trevor Waldoch, Jake Flynn, and John Simonson, who each chipped in one.

Minot forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up nine minors and two majors for 28 minutes in penalty time. The Minotauros had been averaging 22.0 minutes in penalties per game. Minot bested its season scoring average. The Minotauros average 1.7 goal per game. With 37 shots on target during the contest, Minot exceeded the 18.8 shots it averages per game this year.

The Minotauros were led by Carl Krieger, who dished out two assists.

Nicholas Lehr made 33 saves for the Bruins on 37 shots. Austin registered three goals on seven power play opportunities. Tim Shaughnessy took the loss and made 17 saves before being replaced by Jake Hebda who made 17 saves. Minot registered two goals on eight power play opportunities.
