Traverse City boosted by Laslo's play in net, beats Jamestown 3-1Molon Rink Fri, Mar 16, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Traverse City North Stars relied on the sparkling performance of Kyle Laslo in net to grab a 3-1 win against the Jamestown Ironmen. Traverse City was paced by Eric Rivard, who racked up one goal. Rivard scored on the power play 16:44 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Traverse City. The North Stars had gained a power play chance when Jeff McFarland was whistled for hooking. Jared Van Wormer assisted on the tally. Traverse City stifled Jamestown's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The 33 shots that the North Stars put on net surpassed Traverse City's average of 19.6 shots per game this season. Traverse City also got points from Will Badner, who also tallied one goal and one assist. In addition, Traverse City received assists from Kyle Schempp and Lance Fredrickson, who contributed two a piece. The Ironmen's offense rang up 32 shots on the North Stars' net. Jamestown was led by Luc Gerdes, who scored the team's only goal. Gerdes scored 19:22 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Bryan Watt picked up the assist. Laslo recorded 31 saves for Traverse City. The North Stars incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Joe Gladnick made 30 saves for the Ironmen on 33 shots. Jamestown incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
