St. Louis survives Topeka comeback, wins 4-3

The St. Louis Bandits survived a determined comeback attempt by the Topeka RoadRunners on the way to a 4-3 win.

St. Louis took a 4-1 lead during the second period, only to have Topeka storm back on a Ben Bahe goal 19:49 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

The Bandits relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Joe Kalisz, Luc Boby and Frank Dichiara took 12 of the team's 23 shots.

St. Louis was helped by Ryan Stouffer, who finished with one goal. Stouffer scored on the power play 3:11 into the second period to make the score 2-1 St. Louis. The Bandits had gained a power play chance when Joe Van Antwerp was whistled for interference. Kalisz provided the assist. Greg Johnson also scored for St. Louis. In addition, St. Louis received assists from Taylor Wolfe, Joseph Birmingham, Drew Kariofiles, and Rance Hughes, who contributed one a piece.

The 31 shots that the RoadRunners put on net surpassed Topeka's average of 24.9 shots per game this season.

The RoadRunners were helped by Kyle Sharkey, who grabbed one goal. Sharkey scored on the power play 6:29 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Topeka earned a power play opportunity when Ryan Zehnder was put in the box for elbowing. Cory Ramsey picked up the assist. Topeka also got a goal from Richard Young as well. More assists for Topeka came via Jake Kamrass, who had one.

Tyler Green recorded 28 saves for St. Louis. The Bandits totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. Collin LeMay made 19 saves for the RoadRunners on 23 shots. Topeka totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play.
