Amarillo wins tough contest against Corpus Christi, 3-2Amarillo Fri, Mar 16, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Amarillo Bulls gutted out a close 3-2 win against the Corpus Christi IceRays. No lead was more than one goal during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Tyler Deresky at 19:56 of the third period. Greg Gibson was all over the ice for Amarillo, as he registered two goals in the win. Gibson found the back of the net 13 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Amarillo and again while 3:45 into the third to make the score 2-1 Amarillo. The Bulls forced Corpus Christi goalie Anthony Stolarz to work between the pipes, taking 51 shots. In addition, Amarillo received assists from Brandon Lubin, who had two and Mike Erickson, Joe Kozlak, John Gustafsson, and Clint Carlisle, who contributed one a piece. The IceRays' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Amarillo power plays. Corpus Christi was helped by Chris Taff, who finished with one goal. Taff scored 1:31 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Beau Walker assisted on the tally. Jonathan Grebosky also scored for Corpus Christi. Other players who recorded assists for Corpus Christi were Frank Misuraca and Zach Tatrn, who each chipped in one. Mike Taffe recorded 17 saves for Amarillo. The Bulls incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Anthony Stolarz made 48 saves for the IceRays on 51 shots. Corpus Christi incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
