Aberdeen squeaks by Minot, 3-2

The game between the Aberdeen Wings and the Minot Minotauros was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Aberdeen emerged with a 3-2 win.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Cory Ward secured the win for the Wings with a goal in the third period.

Aberdeen was paced by Ward, who racked up one goal. Ward scored 16:18 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Aberdeen. Paul Prescott provided the assist.

The Wings stifled Minot's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. By firing 35 shots on goal, Aberdeen exceeded the 24.1 shots it averages per game this year.

Kevin Becker also scored for Aberdeen. In addition, Aberdeen received assists from Cullen Hurley, Shayne McLaughlin, and Oliver Widding-Persson, who contributed one a piece.

The Minotauros put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Wings to score on any of their three power plays. The 25 shots that Minot put on net surpassed the Minotauros' average of 17.8 shots per game this season.

Minot was helped by Seth Blair, who finished with one goal and one assist. Blair scored 11:26 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Minot. Jadin Martin picked up the assist. Minot additionally got points from Brian Farkas, who also registered one goal and one assist.

Reid Mimmack recorded 23 saves for Aberdeen. The Wings incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Minotauros' Jake Hebda stopped 32 shots out of the 35 that he faced. Minot incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
