Behind a great game by Luke Sandler, who had two goals and one assist, the Fresno Monsters defeated the Kenai River Brown Bears, 6-2. Sandler's tallies came on the power play at 6:44 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Fresno and 5:24 into the second to make the score 2-0 Fresno.Fresno outdid its season average for goals scored. This season, the Monsters average 2.8 goals per contest. Penalties took their toll on Fresno, as its penalty kill unit let in two power play goals. By firing 32 shots on goal, the Monsters exceeded the 21.2 shots they average per game this year. Fresno also got points from Kyle Buffardi, who also had one goal and one assist, Ryan Doner, who also tallied one goal and two assists, and Filip Winkler, who also registered one goal and one assist. Fresno also got a goal from Mikhail Bushinski as well. More assists for Fresno came via Chase Sisk, Dominic Valencia, and Brendan Bradley, who contributed one a piece and Jeffrey Pauluk and Zack Wallace, who each chipped in two. Kenai River kept Fresno's goalie busy throughout the game, and Tomas Sholl made 36 saves on 38 shots. The Monsters incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Austin Severson took the loss and made 14 saves before being replaced by Gabe Grunwald who made 12 saves. The Brown Bears incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
