Kalamazoo rides Okicki to victory over Springfield, 5-1Blue Rink Sun, Mar 11, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Kalamazoo Jr. K Wings relied on the sparkling performance of Alex Okicki in net to grab a 5-1 win against the Springfield Jr. Blues. Kalamazoo was led by Jacob McDowell, who finished with one goal. McDowell scored 8:40 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Kalamazoo. Robbie Payne provided the assist. The Jr. K Wings forced Springfield goalie Tyler Parks to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots. Kalamazoo also got points from Daniel Cesarz, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Andrew Graves also scored for Kalamazoo. More assists for Kalamazoo came via Nick Kovalchik, who had one and Kyle Gattelaro, who had two. The Jr. Blues did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Springfield averages 3.4 goals per game. The Jr. Blues' offense was helped by the efforts of their defensemen, who managed to put 16 shots on net during the game.
