Jamestown outlasts Traverse City, 4-3Jamestown Sun, Mar 11, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Jamestown Ironmen and the Traverse City North Stars were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Jamestown made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-3. Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Anthony Coles secured the win for the Ironmen with a goal in the third period. The 24 shots that Jamestown put on net surpassed the Ironmen's average of 21.3 shots per game this season. Penalties took their toll on Jamestown, as its penalty kill unit let in two power play goals. The Ironmen's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals. Ryan Urso also scored for Jamestown. Other players who recorded assists for Jamestown were John Roisum, who had two and Michael Mazzotta, Michael Zagari, and Matt Moore, who each chipped in one. By firing 27 shots on goal, Traverse City exceeded the 23.5 shots it averages per game this year. The defensemen of the North Stars were also effective in Jamestown's zone, and came away with two goals. Traverse City was led by Nathan Harris, who registered one goal and two assists. Harris scored 19:57 into the second period to make the score 3-3. Sean Murphy picked up the assist. Traverse City also got a goal from Mitchell Snider as well. In addition, Traverse City received assists from Zack Dorer, Jared Van Wormer, and Eric Rivard, who contributed one a piece. The Ironmen's Joe Ballmer stopped 24 shots out of the 27 that he faced. Jamestown incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Zach Nagelvoort recorded 20 saves for the North Stars. Traverse City incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
