Austin rolls over Bismarck, 6-2

The Austin Bruins had a four-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-2 win over the Bismarck Bobcats.

Austin was led by Jonathan Gehrt, who tallied one goal. Gehrt scored 10:38 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Austin. AJ Reid provided the assist.

The Bruins' goal total was higher than their season average. Austin has scored at the pace of 3.3 goals per game during the current campaign. By firing 37 shots on goal, the Bruins exceeded the 28.2 shots they average per game this year.

Austin additionally got points from Charlie Adams, who also had one goal and one assist and Jeremy Finger, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Austin Nelson also scored for Austin. In addition, Austin received assists from CJ Smith, who had two and Christian Folin, Nolan Kirley, Trevor Waldoch, Chris Fischer, Matt Hansen, and John Kirby, who each chipped in one.

Bismarck kept Austin's goalie busy throughout the game, and Nicholas Lehr made 41 saves on 43 shots.

The Bobcats were led by Shane Omdahl, who registered one goal. Omdahl scored 4:45 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Austin. Nicholas Miglio assisted on the tally. Bismarck also got a goal from Tyler Richter as well. Other players who recorded assists for Bismarck were Donald Olivieri, Daniel Zawacki, and Castan Sommer, who contributed one a piece.

The Bruins incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Tommy Burke took the loss and made 26 saves before being replaced by Aaron Nelson who made five saves. Bismarck incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
