Traverse City squeaks by Jamestown, 4-2Jamestown Sat, Mar 10, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Traverse City North Stars gutted out a close 4-2 win against the Jamestown Ironmen. Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Eric Rivard secured the win for Traverse City with a goal in the third period. The North Stars were led by Rivard, who registered one goal and one assist. Rivard scored on the power play 13:24 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Traverse City. Traverse City earned a power play opportunity when Aaron Arm was put in the box for high sticking. Chris Leibinger assisted on the tally. The North Stars' offense was clicking better than usual and put 33 shots on goal during the game, better than the 23.5 shots per game they average. Seth Adams also scored for Traverse City. Other players who recorded assists for Traverse City were Sean Murphy, who had two and Zack Dorer, Kyle Schempp, and Jared Van Wormer, who each chipped in one. Jamestown's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Ironmen finished with 21 penalty minutes. Jamestown was helped by Anthony Coles, who tallied one goal. Coles scored 19:16 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Jamestown. Ryan Urso picked up the assist. Jamestown also got points from Zack Szajner, who also racked up one goal and one assist. In addition, Jamestown received assists from John Roisum, who had one. Traverse City's Zach Nagelvoort stopped 18 shots out of the 20 that he faced. The North Stars totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 2-for-6 on the power play. Joe Gladnick made 29 saves for the Ironmen on 33 shots. Jamestown registered zero goals on two power play opportunities.
