Kerr's big game bests Dawson Creek in 4-0 Wenatchee win

Chris Kerr had two goals and one assist to lead the Wenatchee Wild to a 4-0 victory over the Dawson Creek Rage.

Kerr found the back of the net 9:08 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Wenatchee and again while on the power play 16:29 into the third to make the score 4-0 Wenatchee.

The Wenatchee penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled six minors and two majors for 32 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 22.0 minutes per game the Wild had been spending in the box. Wenatchee's offense was clicking better than usual and put 35 shots on goal during the game, better than the 27.8 shots per game it averages.

Wenatchee additionally got points from Shawn Pauly, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Wenatchee also got a goal from Matt Cope as well. More assists for Wenatchee came via Max McHugh, who had two and Kyle Huson, Brendan Vetter, Kyle Vogel, and Evan Schmidbauer, who contributed one a piece.

Dawson Creek was often in penalty trouble, totaling 10 minors and three majors for 75 minutes in penalty time. The Rage surpassed its season average of 25.0 penalty minutes per game. Dawson Creek averages 21.8 shots on goal per game, but only sent 17 pucks on net against the Wild. The Rage could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Dawson Creek averages 2.3 goals per game. The Rage's defensemen bolstered Dawson Creek's offensive attack, as they bombarded Robert Nichols with seven shots.

The Rage were led by Josh Hartley, who took three shots.

Nichols recorded 17 saves for Wenatchee. The Wild registered two goals on six power play opportunities. Dawson Creek's David Readman stopped 31 shots out of the 35 that he faced. The Rage registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. Dawson Creek ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Bob Turnbull was ejected from the game.
