Wenatchee rips Dawson Creek, 8-3

The Dawson Creek Rage had trouble finding ways to stop the Wenatchee Wild, which beat Rage, 8-3.

Dawson Creek was doomed by its poor performance on special teams, as Wenatchee was able to score four times while on the power play.

The Wild were sparked by Blake Roubos, who tallied one goal. Roubos scored 8:42 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Wenatchee. Parker Johnson assisted on the tally.

Wenatchee forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up 10 minors and one major for 55 minutes in penalty time. The Wild had been averaging 22.0 minutes in penalties per game. Wenatchee excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. The Wild bested their season scoring average. Wenatchee has scored at the pace of 2.8 goals per game during the current campaign. The Wild got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game. Wenatchee's offense was clicking better than usual and put 44 shots on goal during the game, better than the 27.9 shots per game it averages.

Wenatchee also got points from Kyle Vogel, who also had one goal and one assist, Jacob Barber, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Dylan Abood, who also registered one goal and one assist, Ben Carey, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Tyler Rostenkowski, who also had one goal and one assist. Max McHugh also scored for Wenatchee. In addition, Wenatchee received assists from Kyle Huson, Brendan Vetter, Evan Schmidbauer, Trevor Stewart, Jerad Tafoya, and Matt Cope, who each chipped in one and Chris Knudson and Shawn Pauly, who contributed two a piece.

The Rage were often in penalty trouble, totaling 16 minors and one major for 87 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 25.0 minutes per game Dawson Creek had been spending in the box. The Rage put 32 shots on net during the contest, more than the 23.0 they average per game.

Dawson Creek was helped by Jade McMullen, who racked up one goal. McMullen scored 5:44 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Wenatchee. Dylan Rota picked up the assist. Dawson Creek also got a goal from Josh Hartley as well. Other players who recorded assists for Dawson Creek were Troy Petrick, who had one and Ryan Matthews, who had two.

Greg Lewis rejected 29 shots on goal for the Wild. Paul Bourbeau made 36 saves for the Rage on 44 shots. For Dawson Creek, Keenan Bailey was ejected from the game.
