Traverse City falls to Kalamazoo in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

Chris Leone gave the Kalamazoo Jr. K Wings a 4-3 (OT) victory over the Traverse City North Stars when he scored 3:18 into the extra period.

Traverse City could not complete its climb out of a two-goal hole. Kalamazoo made it 3-1 on a power play goal by Andrew Graves at 14:25 in the third period. The North Stars pulled to within 3-2 on a goal by Michal Toman at 18:34 in the third period.

Graves was all over the ice for the Jr. K Wings, as he grabbed two goals in the win.

Kalamazoo's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Traverse City power plays. By firing 36 shots on goal, the Jr. K Wings exceeded the 30.0 shots they average per game this year.

Kalamazoo also got a goal from Taylor Burden as well. Other players who recorded assists for Kalamazoo were Anthony Appleyard, Brock Raffaele, Christian George, Brett Beauvais, Danny Hamburg, and Brandon Flood, who contributed one a piece.

Kalamazoo was unable to stop Traverse City from sending pucks towards the net, and the North Stars eventually piled up 37 shots on goal.

Traverse City was helped by Chris Leibinger, who racked up one goal. Leibinger scored 19:04 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Kalamazoo. Jared Van Wormer assisted on the tally. Eric Rivard also scored for Traverse City. In addition, Traverse City received assists from Mitchell Snider, who had two and Sean Murphy and Nathan Harris, who each chipped in one.

Kenneth MacLean made 34 saves for the Jr. K Wings on 37 shots. Kalamazoo incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Kyle Laslo rejected 32 shots on goal for the North Stars. Traverse City incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
