Mimmack leads Aberdeen to shutout victory over MinotMaysa Arena Sat, Mar 03, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
Reid Mimmack recorded a shutout against the Minot Minotauros as the Aberdeen Wings picked up a 6-0 win. Aberdeen was paced by Cory Ward, who racked up one goal. Ward scored short handed 17:37 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Aberdeen. The Wings played down a man on Paul Prescott's elbowing. Joseph Sullivan provided the assist. Aberdeen racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with five minors and three majors for 35 minutes in penalty time. The Wings had been averaging 12.0 minutes in penalties per game. Aberdeen's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Minot power plays. The Wings' defensive effort looked to be improved. Aberdeen averages 2.9 goals allowed per game. The Wings bested their season scoring average. Aberdeen averages 3.2 goals per game. With 35 shots on target during the contest, the Wings exceeded the 25.9 shots they average per game this year. Aberdeen also got a goal from Tyler Dunagan as well. In addition, Aberdeen received assists from Justin Parizek, Wes Judnick, Kevin Becker, and Shayne McLaughlin, who contributed one a piece and Joe Mottiqua and Trevor Husch, who each chipped in two. The Minot penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled five minors and two majors for 30 minutes in penalty time. The Minotauros surpassed its season average of 23.0 penalty minutes per game. Minot stifled Aberdeen's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Minotauros' offense was clicking better than usual and put 25 shots on goal during the game, better than the 16.9 shots per game they average. Minot was led by Seth Blair, who took three shots. Mimmack recorded 25 saves for the Wings. Aberdeen registered zero goals on four power play opportunities. For the Wings, Mike Parnell was ejected from the game. Tim Shaughnessy rejected 29 shots on goal for the Minotauros.
