Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Alexandria Blizzard defeated the Minot Minotauros in a shootout 3-2 (2-0 SO). The shootout lasted for nine attempts between the teams. Alexandria also got a shootout goal from Craig Lindegard.The Blizzard stifled Minot's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. With 44 shots on target during the contest, Alexandria exceeded the 31.0 shots it averages per game this year. The Blizzard were helped by Seth Ronsberg, who registered one goal. Ronsberg scored on the power play 13:47 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Alexandria had gained a power play chance when Tim Donohue was whistled for boarding. Vadim Gyesbreghs assisted on the tally. Lindegard also scored for Alexandria. In addition, Alexandria received assists from Charlie Aus, who had one. The Minotauros put 22 shots on net during the contest, more than the 17.6 they average per game. Minot was helped by Derek Tylka, who tallied one goal. Tylka scored 19:49 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Joe Hockert picked up the assist. Minot also got a goal from Nolan Meyer as well. Other players who recorded assists for Minot were Carl Krieger, who had one. Jacob Meyers rejected 20 shots on goal for the Blizzard. Alexandria incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Tim Shaughnessy recorded 41 saves for the Minotauros. Minot incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
